The Ed Sheeran tour has lost its remaining support acts after several artists withdrew in solidarity with rapper Macklemore.
Macklemore was removed from the tour following pro-Palestinian remarks during his performances in New Jersey.

Four acts withdraw from Ed Sheeran’s tour
Finneas, Aaron Rowe, Lukas Graham and Irish folk band Beoga have all announced their withdrawal from the tour.
Finneas said artists should not be silenced when they speak about oppression. He also expressed support for Palestine and its people.
Rowe and Beoga referred to Ireland’s history when explaining their decisions.
Lukas Graham, meanwhile, criticised the influence of wealthy venue owners over artists’ public statements.
The withdrawals mean that none of the originally announced support acts will continue with the remaining shows in the current tour arrangement.
Why Macklemore was removed
Macklemore was dropped from the tour after making pro-Palestinian comments during a performance at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium.
He also performed his protest song Hind’s Hall and called for a free Palestine.
The rapper later said several stadiums had refused to host him for the remaining shows.
According to Macklemore, the venue owners placed pressure on Messina Touring Group, the company promoting Sheeran’s tour.
The Israeli-American Council had also launched a petition calling for his removal.
Some Jewish organisations criticised Macklemore’s remarks and accused him of using language they considered offensive. Macklemore rejected accusations of antisemitism and said criticism of Israel should not be equated with hatred of Jewish people.
Sheeran says the decision was not his
Ed Sheeran has insisted that he did not personally decide to remove Macklemore.
In a statement, Sheeran said the decision was made by the tour promoter and the venues hosting the concerts.
He explained that he had spent several days speaking with the venues in an attempt to find a solution.
However, he said the decision was final.
Sheeran also stated that he preferred to keep his concerts focused on bringing people together rather than turning them into political forums.
He said he respected Macklemore’s determination to speak about issues he believed in, but felt that different approaches could still support the goal of peace.
Tour faces fresh uncertainty
The controversy has created uncertainty around the remaining dates of Sheeran’s stadium tour.
Macklemore was scheduled to perform at eight of the tour’s final 10 US shows.
The tour is expected to continue with performances in cities including Philadelphia, Boston, Atlanta, Arlington and Indianapolis.
The withdrawal of the support acts could force organisers to revise the remaining concert arrangements.
For now, the dispute has placed renewed attention on the relationship between artists, promoters and venue owners when performances involve sensitive political issues.
The Ed Sheeran tour controversy also highlights the challenges musicians face when they attempt to balance commercial commitments with their personal beliefs.
