Indianapolis, IN — A 23-year-old woman shot and killed a 21-year-old man after a road rage incident on October 17, 2025.
Deborah Benefiel was arrested for killing Kentrell Settles in Indianapolis. The incident started when Settles honked his horn at Benefiel because she stopped at a green light.
Benefiel then chased Settles for about half a mile. She fired shots into his car and hit him in the chest.
Settles was taken to the hospital where he died at 2:43 p.m.
Police arrested Benefiel the same day. She is being held without bond. Her next court hearing is set for November 4.
The case shows how quickly road rage can turn deadly. Police remind drivers to stay calm on the road and avoid dangerous confrontations.
