Agape Arts Production is counting down to what promises to be one of the most unconventional theatre experiences in Accra as it prepares to stage The Girl Everyone Talked About as part of its unique Theatre in a Bus production.

The production is scheduled for Saturday, August 29, 2026, with audiences set to begin their journey from the National Theatre in Accra.

With the date drawing closer, Agape Arts Production says it is excited to bring audiences an experience that goes beyond conventional theatre and places them directly inside the story.

A theatre experience on the move

Theatre in a Bus transforms a moving bus into a live theatre space. Instead of sitting in a traditional auditorium and watching a performance from a distance, audiences will travel alongside the actors as the story unfolds around them.

From the moment the bus leaves the National Theatre, the journey becomes part of the performance. The close setting creates an atmosphere where audiences can experience the emotions, conversations and performances at close range.

For those attending, the experience promises to be more than simply watching a play. It is an opportunity to become part of a moving story while seeing Accra from a completely different perspective.

A powerful story about mental health

This year’s production, The Girl Everyone Talked About, was written and directed by Francis Jeremy Afizie.

The play explores mental health, trauma, family, hope and the experiences that can shape how people are perceived by society.

Set around three compelling characters within a mobile community mental health outreach unit, the production aims to encourage audiences to look beyond labels and consider the human stories behind them.

The intimate setting of the bus is expected to make the themes even more personal, giving audiences an opportunity to connect closely with the characters and their experiences.

    What audiences can expect

Agape Arts Production is inviting theatre lovers, young people, creatives and anyone interested in thought-provoking experiences to come prepared for something different.

Audiences can expect live performances at close range, an unconventional theatre setting, an engaging story and a journey through the city that forms part of the overall experience.

With only 50 seats available, each performance is designed to offer a more personal and immersive atmosphere.

The production will have three showtimes on the day: 4:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Tickets are priced at GH¢200 for Standard and GH¢300 for Double.

As the production date approaches, Agape Arts Production says it is looking forward to welcoming audiences aboard and turning an ordinary bus ride into an unforgettable theatrical journey.

Theatre in a Bus: The bus is not your transport, it is the stage.
