The suspects were arrested on January 4, 2023, as a result of a report made by Ojo Omolara to the Obalende divisional headquarters in Ijebu-Ode, claiming that her neighbor, Oyindamola Adeyemi, had left her home on December 28, 2022, in the morning, but had since failed to return and that her phone had been turned off.
Taiwo Olutufese Ajalorun and Salawa Oyenusi Ajalorun, as well as Lukman Oladele, Kayode Ibrahim, Bello Akeem, Alebiosu Adebayo, Fatai Rasheed, and Fatai Jimoh, have all been detained by the Ogun State Police in Nigeria for allegedly kidnapping, killing, and dismembering Oyindamola Adeyemi, a 26-year-old mother of two.
According to a statement made by the state police command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspects were detained after a report was filed at the Obalende divisional headquarters in Ijebu-Ode by one Ojo Omolara, who claimed that her neighbor, Oyindamola Adeyemi, left the house on Wednesday morning, December 28, 2022, but did not come back and had turned off her phone. She was told to return because the time had not yet reached 24 hours.
However, on December 29, 2022, while an Obalende division patrol team was out on a normal patrol, a dismembered woman’s body was found by the side of the road. The body was then transferred to a mortuary.
Fortunately, the morgue is only a short distance from the dead’s home, and a staff member there informed the relatives of the deceased to come to see the body that the police had delivered after learning about the missing individual.
According to the suspects, the deceased’s legs were sold for N30,000, while the heart was sold to Akeem Bello for N50,000 (NB: By conversion on Jan 11, 2023, – N50,000 and N30,000 is almost Ghc2,000). The buyer of the deceased’s head is still at large, according to Oyeyemi.
Since her head had already been severed when she arrived, the deceased friend, Ojo Omolara, was able to recognize it by the bra and underwear she had on.
The DPO Obalende division, SP Murphy Salami, gathered his top detectives after recognizing the body, and they launched a technological and intelligence-based inquiry that brought them to Taiwo Olutufese Ajalorun, a herbalist from whose possession the deceased Itel phone was found.
A search warrant was subsequently performed at the herbalist’s home, according to Oyeyemi, and a container full of human blood that was later determined to be the deceased’s blood was found there.
His arrest resulted in the capture of his friend Lukman Oladele, from whose home the deceased’s legs were also found.
They both confessed, which resulted in the detention of additional suspects who are sellers of various body parts from the deceased.
When questioned, Taiwo Olutufese Ajalorun and Lukman Oladele admitted that they brought the dead to Taiwo’s house since he was her male friend. However, as soon as the victim entered, Taiwo Olutufese and Lukman Oladele pinned her down and strangled her.
After killing her, they severed her head, legs, and two hands, which they then sold to their waiting purchasers to be used in rituals to generate income.
According to the suspects, the deceased’s legs were sold for N30,000, while the heart was sold to Akeem Bello for N50,000. The buyer of the deceased’s head is still at large, according to Oyeyemi.
The suspects also admitted that the deceased was the third person they had brutally murdered.
The suspects will now be transferred immediately to the state criminal investigation agencies’ Homicide branch for a covert investigation and thorough prosecution, according to police commissioner CP Lanre S. Bankole.
