On her first visit to her infant granddaughter, a mother was run over in a hospital parking lot and died. 52-year-old Mary Owen-Jones passed just two days after being hit by a car when visiting the hospital the day her daughter Jasmine gave birth. Mary had a “love for life and her family,” according to her bereaved family, and was looking forward to 2023 with her new granddaughter April Rose who was born on January 1st.
According to Mirror, Mary, of Rhos on Sea, North Wales, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, two days after sustaining injuries during the hospital visit. The hairdresser was struck by a car as she crossed between two parking lots near the Glan Clwyd hospital’s main entrance in Bodelwyddan.
The heartbroken members of Mary’s family sent her a heartfelt tribute, saying: “Mary is survived by her son and daughter, Andrew and Jasmine, her granddaughter, April Rose, and her husband, Arwel. She was passionate about life and her family, and she was especially excited to be April Rose’s grandmother when she was just a baby.
All who knew her will miss her dearly. We request the necessary seclusion to give us time to grieve because we are utterly devastated. Daughter Jasmine uploaded images of her scans and wrote on social media about how excited the family was to meet April Rose.
Support for Mary’s family is provided by specialized police officers. She worked as a teaching assistant in addition to being a well-known mobile hairdresser in the coastal resort. The collision, which occurred at around 8:40 p.m. on the hospital grounds between two parking lots close to the main entrance of the hospital, has prompted North Wales Police to issue a witness appeal.
