Ghana ranked 6th globally and 1st in Africa in gold production
Ghana ranked sixth in the world and first in Africa for gold production, according to the latest global mining data. The country produced about 140 tonnes of gold, making it the largest producer on the continent.
This ranking places Ghana ahead of other major African gold-producing nations, including South Africa and Sudan. The achievement highlights Ghana’s growing role in the international mining sector and its contribution to the global gold supply.
Experts attribute the country’s success to steady investments in mining operations and stricter regulation of small-scale mining. Ghana’s government has also strengthened monitoring systems to ensure responsible mining practices and increase revenue from the sector.
