The Emmys 2026 have ended with major wins for The Pitt, Widow’s Bay and DTF St. Louis.
The 78th Emmy Awards were held in Los Angeles, with Mariska Hargitay serving as host.
Several stars also made history during the ceremony.
The Pitt wins best drama
The Pitt won Outstanding Drama Series.
It defeated The Diplomat, The Gilded Age, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Paradise, Pluribus, Slow Horses and Your Friends & Neighbors.
Noah Wyle also won Lead Actor in a Drama Series for The Pitt.
The other nominees were Sterling K. Brown, Gary Oldman, Mark Ruffalo and Rufus Sewell.
Rhea Seehorn won Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Pluribus.
She beat Carrie Coon, Chase Infiniti, Keri Russell and Zendaya.
Widow’s Bay dominates comedy
Widow’s Bay won Outstanding Comedy Series.
The show beat Abbott Elementary, The Bear, Hacks, Margo’s Got Money Troubles, Nobody Wants This, Only Murders in the Building and Shrinking.
Matthew Rhys won Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Widow’s Bay.
Jean Smart won Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Hacks.
She defeated Quinta Brunson, Ayo Edebiri, Elle Fanning and Lisa Kudrow.
Stephen Root won Supporting Actor for Widow’s Bay.
Kate O’Flynn also won Supporting Actress for the series.
Matthew Rhys makes Emmy history
Matthew Rhys had one of the biggest nights at the Emmys 2026.
He won Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Widow’s Bay.
He also won Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series for The Beast in Me.
The achievement made him the first actor to win lead acting Emmys in comedy, drama and limited-series categories.
His second win came after he was nominated alongside Riz Ahmed, Jason Bateman, Charlie Hunnam and Oscar Isaac.
DTF St. Louis wins limited series
DTF St. Louis won Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.
It competed against All Her Fault, The Beast in Me, Beef and Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette.
Sally Field won Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series for Remarkably Bright Creatures.
She beat Claire Danes, Carey Mulligan, Sarah Pidgeon and Sarah Snook.
The series also earned acting awards for David Harbour and Linda Cardellini during the Creative Arts Emmys.

Tom Pelphrey won Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Task.
Allison Janney won Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for The Diplomat.
In comedy, Stephen Root and Kate O’Flynn won the supporting acting awards for Widow’s Bay.
Jean Smart also secured another major milestone with her win for Hacks.
It was her fifth consecutive Emmy in the category.
The Traitors wins reality award
The Traitors won Outstanding Reality Competition Programme.
The nominees included Dancing With the Stars, RuPaul’s Drag Race, Survivor and Top Chef.
The win gave The Traitors its third consecutive Emmy in the category.
The Late Show wins variety award
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert won Outstanding Variety Series.
It beat The Daily Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver and Saturday Night Live.
The award marked another Emmy victory for Colbert’s programme.
Writing and directing winners
Katie Dippold won Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for Widow’s Bay.
Hiro Murai won Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series for the same show.
Vince Gilligan won Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series for Pluribus.
Saul Metzstein won Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for Slow Horses.
The Emmys 2026 therefore produced several major moments.
The Pitt took the top drama prize.
Widow’s Bay dominated comedy and finished the awards cycle with a record 14 Emmys.
DTF St. Louis claimed the top limited-series honour.
