From assorted fried rice and jollof to refreshing yoghurt drinks, Brammy’s Kitchen is becoming one of the standout food spots at Osu Night Market in Accra.

When the streets of Osu begin to light up at night and the energy around the market starts building, one food spot quietly pulls people in with the smell of hot fried rice, sizzling assorted meals and fresh yoghurt drinks. That spot is Brammy’s Kitchen.

Located at the busy Osu Night Market in Accra, Brammy’s Kitchen has steadily built a name for itself among food lovers looking for tasty meals, warm customer service and a memorable late-night food experience. But behind the growing brand is a chef who decided it was finally time to bet on himself.

“I was a chef at Zen Garden and decided to establish my own place because I felt like I was selling my talent to others,” the founder shared with TrenderHQ. “I felt this was the right time to establish something for myself.”

That decision eventually led him to Osu, a place he intentionally chose because he wanted to start fresh and build his reputation from the ground up.

“I settled at Osu because people didn’t know me, and I wanted to start from scratch,” he explained. “The growth of being a new person.”

Built on experience and passion for good food

The name Brammy’s Kitchen itself comes from the owner’s first name, Abraham. Inspired by the shortened version “Bram,” he combined it with “Kitchen” to create the brand identity customers now recognise at the night market.

Although Brammy’s Kitchen is popularly known for meals like assorted spaghetti, assorted jollof and fried rice, the chef says his culinary background goes much deeper.

“I am quite good at preparing a variety of dishes from fufu, banku, kontomire stew, okro stew, almost all local dishes, and some selected continental dishes, largely French dishes,” he said.

Still, he carefully selected a menu that fits the nightlife atmosphere at Osu Night Market while maintaining quality and taste as the top priority.

“My priority is how to prepare good and delicious meals to the best of my ability,” he said.

That mindset appears to be working. According to him, fried rice with chicken currently stands as the restaurant’s best-selling meal.

“I think it’s because people mostly prepare jollof at home themselves, but fried rice somehow seems difficult for them, and I do it so well,” he explained.

    Cooking “with intention”

What separates Brammy’s Kitchen from many other food vendors is the attention paid to ingredients, preparation and consistency.

“I make sure I cook my food with intention, rich nutrients, vegetables and rich quality,” he said.

He also revealed that freshness plays a major role in his cooking process.

“My ingredients are always clean and fresh, straight from the market, and we cook with intentions,” he said. “We pay attention to the right amount of natural and organic spices we use in our food for good health.”

Beyond the meals, Brammy’s Kitchen is also attracting attention for its yoghurt drinks, which now come in vanilla, strawberry, and banana flavours.

According to the founder, the yoghurt is designed differently from many heavily sweetened options on the market.

“My yoghurt has moderate sugar level, suitable even for kids unlike other yoghurts that contain so much sugar,”

he explained, adding that more flavours will soon be introduced.

For first-time visitors, he recommends pairing the assorted fried rice or assorted jollof with any yoghurt flavour

“to experience what good food tastes like.”

More than food at Osu Night Market

For many customers, Brammy’s Kitchen is not just about eating. It is also about the atmosphere.

“The feedback I get from customers are usually overwhelming,” he said. “The deliciousness of the food coupled with the vibrant nightlife at the night market and how hot and fresh our foods are always gives a memorable experience.”

He believes the restaurant’s customer service is another reason people keep returning.

“Our friendly customer service is one that keeps our customers coming back to us.”

The chef also sees Osu Night Market itself as a major cultural and food destination in Accra.

“There are varieties of foods at Osu Market. The place is a tourist destination,” he said. “Every vendor brings something special to the table, and our presence completes the picture and food experience.”

    Building a community through food

Like many food entrepreneurs, Brammy’s Kitchen has had its fair share of challenges, especially balancing affordability with quality.

“We invest heavily in the quality of our foods,” he explained. “The challenge is when customers want huge discounts on the price of food.”

Despite that, he says the business remains committed to maintaining standards because customer satisfaction matters most.

One particularly memorable experience involved a Black American customer who enjoyed the food so much that she returned with more visitors.

“She brought in more other Americans to try it, and ordered lots of packs,” he recalled. “The joy of giving such food pleasure to others made me realise how significant Brammy’s Kitchen is.”

At the centre of the brand is a desire to create joy and connection, not just meals.

“We don’t aspire for people to just eat and go home,” he said. “We want them to leave their sorrows and go back with renewed energy and inner joy.”

    Expansion plans already in motion

Brammy’s Kitchen is already looking ahead to expansion, with new menu additions currently in development.

“Yam chips, spicy wings and many more” are expected to join the menu soon, according to the founder.

Over the next few years, he hopes the brand develops “stronger roots” while building “deeper connections” with customers and healthy food lovers across Accra.

Asked to describe Brammy’s Kitchen in one word, his answer was simple:

    “Vim.”

And if the restaurant were a song?

“It would be Watch Me by Empress Gifty, produced by Kuami Eugene.”
