Some stories remind us that success often begins with the courage to start small, stay consistent, and hold on to what we truly love. One such story is that of Aaron Elike, a young entrepreneur from Ghana’s Volta Region, who has built a thriving perfume business through determination, creativity, and the support of family.
A background rooted in resilience
Aaron describes himself as an optimistic person who has always believed in facing challenges head-on. Growing up in a warm and supportive family, he developed a strong sense of independence early on. “I have always been a fighter,” he says. “No one is going to save you, so you have to set goals and go after them.”
That mindset carried him through periods of unemployment after national service, until his mother encouraged him to channel his talent for marketing into a business of his own. With her support and initial capital, Aaron found his footing in the perfume trade, a field he had always admired.
Finding purpose in perfumes
For Aaron, perfumes were not just products to sell, but a passion tied to his love for good scents and personal presentation. His journey began after hearing a radio advertisement from an entrepreneur who introduced him to the basics of the business. With only ¢450 as his starting investment, Aaron purchased his first wholesale perfumes and launched what would become Aarons Trade.
The early days were not without struggle. His first customers were close friends who trusted his taste and passion. Their faith in him became the foundation of a growing business that has now lasted five years. “They all hold a special place in my heart,” he recalls.

Building a brand lifestyle
Today, Aarons Trade is more than just a perfume shop. Aaron has transformed it into a lifestyle brand built on strong branding, consistent marketing, and authentic connections with clients. He sources perfumes from trusted suppliers, offering a range that includes designer fragrances, oils, and especially UAE brands like Lattafa, which have become customer favorites for their affordability and unique scents.
His clients range from young adults to professionals, with men making up a large portion of his customer base. Still, he values every buyer equally, seeing each purchase as a relationship built on trust. To reach new customers, he relies on social media branding, stylish packaging, and even carrying samples with him for spontaneous recommendations.

Lessons and challenges
Like every entrepreneur, Aaron has faced challenges, especially convincing new customers to trust his products. Yet his consistency and attention to branding have helped him overcome doubts. One key lesson he highlights is the importance of patience, both with oneself and with customers. “Branding is really important in business. You need to be consistent and invested, not just financially but also in presentation and marketing,” he explains.
Looking ahead
Aaron’s vision for the future goes beyond perfumes. In the next few years, he hopes to travel, source products directly, and even manufacture his own fragrances. He also plans to expand Aarons Trade into a broader lifestyle brand, offering products from fashion and accessories to drinks.
For him, success is not measured only in sales but in the smiles and confidence his products bring to people. “I want to be remembered for good vibes, good energy, and anything that brings peace,” he says with a laugh.
A note of advice
To those who dream of starting their own business, Aaron offers a simple but powerful message: start small, stay consistent, and be patient with yourself. “It’s never easy, but if you keep going, you will see the results.”
