Is Alban Bagbin LOSING FAVOUR with Ghanaians over STRONG interest in Anti-LGBTQ+ Bill?

In a recent post by Pulse Ghana, the media/news company published a photo of the Speaker of Parliament with the caption ‘Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin has said the anti-LGBT Bill currently before parliament will be passed before the next elections in 2024. Earlier this week, Alban Bagbin asked the Committee working on the Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill to expedite works in presenting its report to the august house for a debate.’ #PulseNews

Shockingly, the news which was (allegedly) meant to seek uproar and favourable support from Ghanaians rather ends up receiving backlash over government’s interest in LGBTQ+ at this moment when the economy has become so hard for everyone especially when a Ghanaian has recently been killed over Ghc2 lorryfare increase (https://bit.ly/3h08aJM) due to the cedi’s increasing fall against the US Dollar. Users commented questioning the priorities of the Speaker of Paliament and wondering what is more important to him as a head representative of Ghana; whether it is to help formulate policies which can help the nation as a whole and help solve the current pressing economic hardships in the country or abandon all the cries and suffering of the people and focus on what tax paying Ghanaian citizens do in their private bedrooms.

Is Alban Bagbin truly losing favour with Ghanaians or are all the people commenting on Pulse Ghana’s post LGBTQ+ supporters as some of the users even requested that the Speaker of Parliament be relieved from his office for what some of the users termed as ‘his lack of focus. @ladyjaylives, a popular Ghanaian musical artist and verified Instagram user commented ‘😂😂😂 the fact that I am getting insulted for supporting human beings God created is just ridiculous 😂😂😂 #lgbtq🌈. Another user @the.saintman commented ‘Anti corruption & anti mismanagement of the economy bills are more pressing now if you ask me, but who am I 🌚’. Additionally, iamnana_bruce’s profile picture

iamnana_bruce had this to say under the comment section ‘This hard times see what you people are thinking of😂😂😂 hmm poor and proud people… who will invest in your country knowing of this law, who will give you loans known you can’t pay 😂😂 my people una dey come suffer pass this one ooo 🤦‍♂️’. With comments from Ghanaian instagram users clearly not being happy on the focus of the Speaker of Parliament, @ernestolook added his voice to the comment section saying ‘Such a shame with all the hardships going on! What does someone’s sexual orientation does to the fuel ⛽️ price or add or take aways the living Standard of Ghanaian! How can things get better when u have people like this in power.’ @sandraabena__, another Ghanaian instagram user also added ‘Parliamentarians lost focus . Above all the tragedy that’s happening in our economy . Losing amounts of money , making loss , inflation and you are worried about what others do in their bedrooms .. 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️ can Ghana get back on its feat ??

@arn_gieee added “Instead of them to concentrate and work nu see the rubbish they’re saying 😂😂”. @father.ann commented “But doesn’t the Gh Constitution define Marriage already??? Y’all need to learn from Kenya and Uganda… Why don’t u work on the most pressing issues affecting Every “Fellow Ghanaian” 1st???” and @real_truthgh “Take this man out of parliament, another failed man. I have said it always that is good they man this man speaker of parliament and we have seen his style of leadership, Ghanaians should not ever make a mistake and give this man the power as president, he will destroy even more than Nana. A speaker who can’t stand boldly on issue to defend citizens, how can he control a country”. Among many comments left under the post on Instagram. Should The Honourable Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin be focusing on LGBTQ+ bill at this moment or should he be focusing on something else – say helping solve the current economic crises facing Ghana.
