Beninese global music icon and multi-Grammy Award winner Angélique Kidjo has been announced as one of the recipients of a Hollywood Walk of Fame star in 2026, making her the first African artist in history to receive this distinction. The announcement came during a press conference held by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce on July 2 at Ovation Hollywood.
Five-time Grammy Award-winning singer Angélique Kidjo is set to etch her name in history as the first African artiste to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The singer, who is French-Beninese, will be the first artist from the African continent to have her star on Hollywood Boulevard.
About the Hollywood Walk of Fame Class of 2026
Kidjo is among 35 esteemed individuals who will be enshrined onto the Walk of Fame as part of the prestigious Class of 2026. The honorees were selected by the Walk of Fame selection panel of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce from “hundreds” of nominations at a meeting on June 20.
Six Grammy winners are set to be honored – Cyrus, Lovett, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, The Clark Sisters, Intocable and Angélique Kidjo.
