In a recent post by Pulse Ghana, the media/news company published a photo of the Speaker of Parliament with the caption ‘Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin has said the anti-LGBT Bill currently before parliament will be passed before the next elections in 2024. Shockingly, the news which was (allegedly) meant to seek uproar and favourable support from Ghanaians rather ends up receiving backlash over government’s interest in LGBTQ+ at this moment when the economy has become so hard for everyone especially when a Ghanaian has recently been killed over Ghc2 lorryfare increase (https://bit.ly/3h08aJM) due to the cedi’s increasing fall against the US Dollar. Users commented questioning the priorities of the Speaker of Paliament and wondering what is more important to him as a head representative of Ghana; whether it is to help formulate policies which can help the nation as a whole and help solve the current pressing economic hardships in the country or abandon all the cries and suffering of the people and focus on what tax paying Ghanaian citizens do in their private bedrooms.
Is Alban Bagbin truly losing favour with Ghanaians or are all the people commenting on Pulse Ghana’s post LGBTQ+ supporters as some of the users even requested that the Speaker of Parliament be relieved from his office for what some of the users termed as ‘his lack of focus. @ladyjaylives, a popular Ghanaian musical artist and verified Instagram user commented ‘😂😂😂 the fact that I am getting insulted for supporting human beings God created is just ridiculous 😂😂😂 #lgbtq🌈.
