Alidu Seidu has returned to first-team training at Rennes after being included in the French club’s Europa League squad.
The Ghana defender was expected to leave Rennes during the summer transfer window, but the proposed move did not materialise.
His return gives him another opportunity to compete for playing time after being left out of Rennes’ Ligue 1 plans at the start of the season.
Alidu Seidu returns to Rennes senior squad
Seidu has now been reintegrated into Rennes’ first-team setup.
The 26-year-old is yet to make a Ligue 1 appearance this season.
However, his inclusion in the Europa League squad means he could feature in the club’s European campaign.
Rennes are preparing to face Sturm Graz in their opening Europa League fixture.

Ligue 1 rivals Nice are reportedly considering a move for the Ghanaian under France’s special “joker” transfer rule.
The rule allows clubs to sign players outside the normal transfer window in specific circumstances, including serious injuries within their squad.
Nice are assessing their options after defender Antoine Mendy suffered a serious knee injury.
A possible move would depend on the clubs reaching an agreement and Nice receiving approval for their transfer plans.
For now, Seidu remains a Rennes player.
Seidu could boost Ghana ahead of qualifiers
The defender’s return to first-team training also comes at an important time for Ghana.
The Black Stars are preparing for their upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia.
Ghana will face Côte d’Ivoire on September 24 before hosting The Gambia three days later.
Regular football at Rennes could therefore help Seidu build match fitness and put himself in contention for national team selection.
His immediate focus, however, will be on rebuilding his place within the Rennes squad.
