Alice Mukendi has shared a painful experience on Instagram after attending the WIBA Awards in France. The African American media figure hoped to be honored at the event but ended up feeling humiliated.

She made a tough choice: missing her own child’s graduation to attend the awards. She believed she would receive public recognition along with the other honorees. Instead, she spent the entire evening waiting and watching others get called up, while no one acknowledged her.

Alice Mukendi Sidelined at the Ceremony

Alice sat in shock as award after award went to others. She never heard her name. No one invited her on stage. No organizer came to explain what was going on.

When the event ended and the crowd cleared out, Alice decided to confront the organizers. She asked them why they had ignored her. According to her Instagram posts, their responses showed confusion and indifference. She finally received her award—after the entire audience had left.

    Alice Mukendi – Cold Acknowledgment

The MC offered her a chance to speak. Alice stood alone in the empty venue and took the mic. With raw emotion, she thanked them—not with joy, but with pain.

“Thank you so much WIBA for embarassing me.”

Her words echoed through an empty room, summing up a night that had already left her feeling erased.

Fans React to Her Instagram Post

The story spread fast. Fans and followers expressed outrage. Many praised her courage for speaking out. Others called out the event for disrespecting a Black woman who deserved better.

The story of Alice Mukendi touches on a larger issue. Many African American women face disrespect in international spaces—even when invited to be honored. Her experience at WIBA feels like another example of that painful pattern.

She gave up a once-in-a-lifetime moment with her child. She expected celebration. What she got was silence and shame. She deserved better.
