Veteran Ghanaian actress Grace Omaboe, affectionately known as Maame Dokono, celebrated two remarkable milestones on Saturday, September 7th. The celebrated actress turned 80 years old while also marking 60 years of outstanding contributions to the Ghanaian entertainment industry. The grand event, held at The Underbridge in East Legon, Accra, was a testament to her profound influence on Ghana’s film and television landscape.
Unforgettable Maame Dokono
Adding to the significance of the occasion, Grace Omaboe launched her memoir. Titled Unforgettable Maame Dokono, which offers an intimate look into her distinguished career and personal life. The event drew numerous Ghanaian music stars, movie actors, and media personalities. Many of whom have shared the screen with her, particularly during her iconic run on the beloved television show Obra. The show, celebrated during the event, remains one of Ghana’s most popular and long-running TV series, captivating viewers for over two decades.

The celebration saw the presence of numerous prominent figures from Ghana’s entertainment industry. Including Nana Ama McBrown, Fred Amugi, David Dontoh, Prophet Kofi Oduro and Adwoa Smart. Without forgetting other prominent figures including Abeiku Santana, Abena Serwaa Ophelia, Lydia Forson, Christine Doe Tetteh, and Rev. Rita Korankye Ankrah, among others. Amid the joyous celebrations, Grace Omaboe’s children shared heartfelt messages. Revealing that her 80th birthday wish was a simple yet profound desire—to be surrounded by her children and grandchildren. They expressed their deep admiration and love for their mother, offering their blessings.
