Shatta Wale and Joey B: Health issues and the prices artists pay to keep up the battle!

It is not always a bed of roses they say and this is very evident when it comes to the lives of artists and health battles. With the need to constantly be in the spotlight and throw in good auro to gear towards and maintain one’s spot at the top, most talents (Artists) have to go through a lot to keep up the momentum and what is worse, many people do not care! Thus for most fans or critics, all that is worth is the glamour of rubbing heads.

Far too many people have we seen having mental breakdowns to name a few from the case of well you know many Ghanaian artists/ public figures who become subjects of attention once they take a break to heal themselves.

But it may seem 2023 would be a great year as many artists are now being brave and sharing their health issues with the public! World acclaimed musical artist Celine Dion came out last year about her health issue – the reason she had to cancel some concerts she had planned out and guess what! That is the right step!

An artist should not have to die in the process of performing for the crowd, when things get worse, help is always available and must be sought after – many have we lost: Remembering Whitney Huston and Michael Jackson.

I bet we will all agree that if they had taken one or two years off the pressure of fame to focus on their health and still be alive today, we would love that compared to the present reality of them not being with us no more so you can imagine the joy of knowing that our Ghanaian artists are becoming brave and sharing their health challenges with their fans, taking time off when needed to work on themselves and to come out victorious!

These two tweet samples from Shatta Wale and Joey B, hopefully, would serve as the right swing to seasoned and upcoming artists to choose life and good health over everything while they pursue and grow their career in arts and any other field, regardless – not limiting to famous names and celebrities only! While we chase our careers and try to keep up with the Joneses, may we find the strength and braveness to also focus and attend to our health!
