Phillip Aryeetey jailed in UK following a dramatic police search on the M57 motorway. Officers stopped the 55-year-old driver on October 24, 2025, near junction 5 in Kirkby.
During the search, police discovered a padlocked suitcase stashed directly under the driver seat. The suitcase contained £299,440 in cash. Consequently, officers arrested Aryeetey immediately on suspicion of possessing criminal property.
Following the vehicle stop, investigators searched his residence on Tanhouse Road in Thornton. Officers seized an additional £2,000 in cash, 65 grams of cocaine, and a Taser device.

The operation was conducted by the Merseyside Organised Crime Partnership. The joint team brings together Merseyside Police and the National Crime Agency to dismantle criminal networks.
Aryeetey appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on September 10, 2026. He pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing criminal property, possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply, and possessing a prohibited weapon.
The court sentenced him to three years in prison. Detective Chief Inspector Pete Stephenson praised the seizure, noting that organized crime brings harm, fear, and violence to local communities. He emphasized that law enforcement units will continue targeting individuals involved in illicit activities.

Legal observers noted that surname sharing across diverse backgrounds often points to historic intercultural ties, marriage, or family heritage across the UK.
