MOG beatz pulls down Shatta Wale albums over catalogue dispute

M.O.G Beatz removes Shatta Wale albums from Apple Music over royalties dispute.

Ghanaian music producer M.O.G Beatz has taken down two albums by Shatta Wale from Apple Music. The decision comes after a long-running royalties dispute between the two.

According to M.O.G Beatz, he did not receive credit or payment for songs he produced on Shatta Wale’s projects. He shared his frustration on social media, stressing that artistes often ignore the contributions of producers. He explained that while the music sells, producers are left without recognition.

The albums affected are Reign and Wonderboy. Both contain multiple tracks produced by M.O.G Beatz. However, the producer claims he has never been paid royalties for them. In a post on X, formerly Twitter, he said: “You erase my name, release the songs, and buy cars. This must stop.”

This statement drew strong reactions online. Many fans supported his move, saying it was time producers demanded fairness. Others were unhappy, arguing that removing the albums only punishes fans. Despite the divided opinions, the issue has started a wider conversation about rights in the music industry.

This is not the first time M.O.G Beatz has raised such concerns. In 2021, he accused Shatta Wale of failing to pay for his work on the Reign album. At the time, Shatta Wale promised to address the matter, but according to the producer, nothing changed.

Industry experts have also commented. Music publisher Mark Osae said the incident reflects the weak structures in Ghana’s creative sector. He explained that without proper contracts and clear copyright systems, disputes like this will continue. He encouraged both artistes and producers to sign agreements before releasing songs.

For now, the two albums remain off Apple Music. Shatta Wale has not yet issued a direct response. Fans are waiting to see if the artiste and the producer can reach a settlement. Some believe the music may return once both parties resolve their issues. Others think the takedown may remain permanent.

The story has become more than a personal conflict. It highlights the need for fair payment and recognition for producers. Many young beatmakers in Ghana face similar struggles. They often work hard but are denied royalties and proper credit. M.O.G Beatz’s bold decision could inspire others to stand up for their rights.
