EOCO cracks down on ‘QNET’ human trafficking syndicate in a major nationwide raid that freed 320 people from a fake recruitment network.
The Economic and Organised Crime Office said the group behind the scam tricked victims with promises of well-paid jobs and business deals. Instead, the victims faced confinement and exploitation after arriving in Ghana.
EOCO teams carried out the rescue across several regions. They also arrested key suspects linked to the network. The agency confirmed that those detained are now helping with investigations.
Officials described the case as a mix of human trafficking and economic crime. Most victims came from nearby West African countries, deceived by recruiters who demanded upfront payments and false relocation promises.
QNET, which operates as a direct-selling company, has often faced public complaints about similar scams. The company has previously denied any wrongdoing. Despite that, security agencies in Ghana continue to connect its name to fraudulent recruitment cases.
EOCO warned the public to avoid job or business offers that sound too good to be true. It said the agency will keep working with other law-enforcement bodies to break these networks and support the rescued victims.
This crackdown highlights how easily vulnerable people can fall into trafficking traps and why early awareness can save lives.
