Ghanaian Amapiano star DJ Azonto has sparked a heated copyright clash with rapper Medikal. Azonto claims Medikal used his popular slogan “Alla” in the song Shoulder without consent. He is demanding $100 million as compensation.
Azonto insists “Alla” is more than a catchphrase. According to him, it is his brand and musical identity. He believes using it without permission disrespects his creative rights.
The artist also listed unusual demands. These include diamond chains, three Rolls-Royce cars, a beach house in Miami, and a diplomatic passport for his mother. He added that Medikal must also offer him a stake in Shaxi, Shatta Wale’s ride-hailing company.
Medikal, however, dismissed the request almost instantly. On social media, he replied with “Killa Ntua,” meaning he would not pay a dime. His blunt reaction fueled online debates and divided fan opinions.
Azonto then released a diss track titled One Shoulder One Cedi Tax. In the song, he attacked both Medikal and Shatta Wale. He declared that the “Alla” slogan cannot be taken from him.
Fans have reacted in different ways. Some argue Azonto is exaggerating with the $100 million demand. Others support him, saying artists must protect their creativity. The diss track has already started trending across Ghanaian music platforms.
